Science and Engineering Fair
Goal: To find and begin to research a science fair project.
How to Get Ideas for a Science Fair Project
1. Activator:In your science journal, list 3 ways that you can look for inspiration for science fair ideas.
2. Let's talk about what makes a good or bad science fair topic.
3. Do some research today to find a science fair idea, or to research an idea that you already have.
A good place to start is here: Science Fair Resources
4. If you have an idea, try to formulate a question or a design goal.
5. Wrap-up: Summarize what you have learned or accomplished in your science journal.

1. Activator: List at least 5 related ideas that interest you?
2. Read How to Prepare a Science Fair Project: Created by students for students.
3. Write down any important information.
4. Do some quick research to help you get ideas for your project and write what you find.
5. Write your top two ideas on your Wrap-up Sheet

1. Activator: What are some questions that scientists in the past have asked and tried to answer?
2. A Video about the Western Mass Regional Science Fair
3. A Video about the Massachusetts State Science Fair
4. Look at How to Prepare a Science Fair Project: Created by students for students.
5. Discuss BPMS Fair: Fair will be here at the school. Projects will be judged based on a rubric. The first place winner will move onto the State Fair (everyone may attend regionals for another chance to attend the state competition.)
6. BPMS details: Awards and Prizes. When and where can you work on the science fair? Here in GT, Ms. Singh's room during tutorial (there will be sign up sheets.)

BPMS Fair: Takes place early April
Registration Deadline for Regionals: April 12, 2013
Regional Fair: takes place in North Adams on April 27,2013
