Watch this video about a boy who grew up to be a physicist who was on board the Space Shuttle Challenger. After watching the video, click on Think, and answer the questions. Use question number 6, "Ronald was inspired by the equality he saw on Star Trek. If you had to write a show set in the future, what would it be like?" as a jumping off point for a story.

The seminar clearly and concisely leads you through the creation of an effective premise, compelling characters and a structure for your work. Throughout the sessions, writing techniques, presentation do's and don'ts, screenplay terminology and film clips juxtaposed with their shooting scripts help you develop your initial whim into your final screenplay.

An online and print magazine written by and for teens. They have poetry, fiction, movie reviews, art and more. Read, comment, and write your own stories to submit. (you must by 13 or older to submit work.) If you find an article that would be a good for a classroom discussion let me know.
NaNoWriMo
NanoWrimo for teens offers a challenge for teens to write a novel in the month of November. They have excellent writing resources available , whether or not you decide to take on the challenge, and they take a lot of the stress out of writing. I have printed up a few copies of the NaNoWriMo hand book that I can give you if you are interested. The handbook has a lot of good tools for developing characters, locations, plots, etc.
