8th Grade Game Unit
Stage 1: Play and Evaluate Games (2 class periods)
Objective: To play and critique 3 or 4 games
Activator: What boardgames have you played? Which do you like? Not like? Why?
Hand out student booklets. Try not to write on them.
For full credit you must play and hand in evaluation sheets for 4 games. (Complete as homework if necessary.)
Review sample evaluation in student booklet.
Play "The Great Horse Race." Evaluate as a class.
Continue with other games.
Wrap-up: Complete assessment 1 on day 1. Complete assessment 2 on day 2.
Stage 2: Coming up with ideas for games (2 class periods)
Stage 3: Create game (4 class periods)
Stage 4: Play, Give and receive feedback (1 class period)
