1. On your Activator sheet for today, list the items below in order from your most favorite to your least favorite choice.
(example: F. Current Events, C. Reading Circle, B. Advanced Math, etc. …)
A. Philosophy - We will read in class, have discussions and do activities. Everyone will create a wiki page about a philosopher.
B. Advanced Math – We will use Alcumus (a website that adapts to your learning needs) and do other math activities.
C. Reading Circle – This is a fast paced reading discussion group. Our first book will be the science fiction story Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. Students will be responsible for reading outside of class.
D. Characters in Stories – We will create a digital collection of fictional stories online and learn about the historical stories of others.
E. Stations – You will work independently at stations on math problems of the week, or writing problems of the week.
F. Current Events – We will watch video clips and read news articles in class and discuss them.
G. Independent Work – Students who choose this option must fill out an independent proposal form and get it approved by Ms. Collins. I encourage you to do this. Some example of possible projects are: History Day, Future City, West Point Bridge Building, Creating web pages, Video Projects, Independent Writing (poetry, songs, write a novel in a month challenge, research papers) Computer Programing
2. Also, If Independent work is your first choice, in one sentence write what you might like to do for independent work.
(Example: I would like to create a web page that is all about elephants in captivity and the wild.)
